Custom Size Sweater – Should You Order A Custom Size Sweater or Standard Size?

Wondering which size you need to order?  Depends on why you are considering costuming knitwear from Hobbie’s House.

Are you thinking of an item you plan on wearing regularly or is this part of a Halloween costume?  How particular you are about the fit of this item?

Our detailed sizing charts are for our individually sized, school sweaters, cardigans and vests.  Hobbie’s knitwear can indeed be part of an elaborate costume but these are heirloom quality knits that can easily be worn throughout the colder months.

We provide you with the finished measurements of the sweater/vest to help you determine if the fit is correct as given or needs to be customized for a near perfect, personal fit.

Figure on the finished measurements having approximately 3 to 3 1/3 inches of wiggle room above and beyond your body measurements.

Our wizard wear collection is specifically designed to closely resemble the “look” and “fit” of the school uniform knitwear worn by Hogwarts© students.

You may wear sweaters in Medium, Large or X-Large because they are comfortable but do not assume that it is the size you need to order.
Your wardrobe sweaters are most likely designed with completely different amounts of wearing ease.

We do not recommend “assuming” that you wear a particular size – without verifying your actual measurements against that size.

Why do be emphasize this point? Because we have had the experience with several customers who purchased our knitwear only to find that it did not fit.

They simply assumed it would fit because it was the largest size we offered. They also did not communicate in any way with us to verify that it would. Please verify – it’s as easy as sending an email.

Ordering A Custom Size Sweater

For example, the X-Large will not necessarily fit the person who wears the smallest Plus size. It also goes without saying that it will not fit someone who actually wear what amounts to a 2XL. The measurement difference between the regular X-Large and the 2XL is 12 to 14 inches. And that’s not even taking the wearing ease into consideration!

If a near perfect, personal fit is not as important, you can select a sweater using our garment industry standard sizes of X-Small, Small, Medium, Large and X-Large for Misses, Men, Juniors and Children.

Standard sizes usually cover 2 sizes – a Misses Medium, for example, will fit someone wearing either a size 8 or 10.

If you prefer a better fit, select either the 8 or the 10. We can even customize individual sizes for a “personal” fit.

We will take care of adding the appropriate wearing ease to any size we knit.
